35 years and still growing strong!

It was in May 1983, in Blainville, that Stablex’s plant officially opened to fulfill its environmental mission. Established in Quebec for 35 years to treat inorganic industrial waste, the company has continued to offer industries both in Quebec and abroad a complete and safe service for managing their hazardous materials. “The beginnings of Stablex represent a historic moment that at the time, brought pride to the communities of Blainville and Quebec. Quebec was demonstrating environmental leadership, explained Guy Thibault, Stablex Vice President and CEO.

On March 3rd, 1982, the first shovel hits the ground for the construction of the Stablex plant in Blainville.

A company that has grown and expanded

For 35 years, Stablex has seen a significant evolution. In addition to establishing its reputation as a North American leader in industrial waste management, the company has diversified its services by treating a growing range of residual materials, including contaminated soils. It has also optimized its technologies, invested heavily in research and development and obtained the ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certifications. “With the dynamism and know-how of its team, Stablex offers constantly evolving environmental services”, specified Mr. Thibault.

Stablex has also achieved excellence on many fronts, including workplace health and safety and human resources management. Moreover, the distinctions it has obtained in this respect bear witness to this.

The past predicts the future

The growing needs of its current and potential customers in managing their industrial waste drives Stablex to continuously improve its operations. Specifically, this includes laboratory research, processing technologies, waste reception and storage, and final disposal in cells designed to provide long-term environmental protection.

In addition, the company has always maintained open communications with its neighbors and stakeholders. In addition to holding meetings, visits, open houses and the implementation of various means of information, it has created two multi-stakeholder committees to ensure that its activities are in harmony with the community and the environment.

All of Stablex's practices are driven by the principles of sustainable development that answer social, environmental and economic challenges.

Powered by the neighbourhood

Along with its 180 employees, 80% of whom live near the plant, Stablex has built a strong presence in the community through regional partnerships and local affiliations. Thanks to its regional purchasing policy, the company has contributed approximately $ 4 million a year to the greater Laurentian region.
